Cowboys 20 - Panthers 13
Homefield advantage! On Saturday, the Cowboys grinded out a win on the road against Carolina, and Sunday the Bears pummeled the Packers on and icy Soldier Field. That seals home field for the Cowboys throughout the NFC playoffs. Tony Romo showed no ill effects from a hand injury he suffered a week earlier, completing 28 of 42 passes with one TD and one INT. Unfortunately, the Cowboys may have suffered a costly loss, as Terrell Owens sprained his ankle, and will have to heal quickly to even make it back for the first playoff game. A lot of key players will probably sit out or see very limited action this week against Washington. Wide Receiver Terry Glenn may see his first action of the season this week.
Eagles 10 - Cowboys 6
Are the Cowboys headed towards another December falloff? The last two games are a serious warning sign. Last week's come from behind win against Detroit seemed like a good win until the Lions got absolutely anhilated by the Chargers. Playing a game against a major division rival at home would breath some life back into the Cowboys, right? Nope. The Cowboys played pretty well on defense, but the offense had by far it's worse game of the season and a couple of significant players suffered injuries including Romo who injured his hand but stayed in the game. At least the Cowboys defense made a heroic goal line stand at the end of the game to keep the Eagles from scoring when they had a first and goal from the 1 yard line with 2 minutes to play. The Cowboys defense forced McNabb to kneel down for a loss three plays in a row, but unfortunately this caused the clock to run out. In all seriousness though, the Cowboys wrapped up a bye in the first round of the playoffs, but allowed the Packers to catch them in the race for the #1 seed. The Packers should be decent favorites in both of their last two games, so the Cowboys will probably need to win both of their remaining games if they want to avoid a cold trip to Lambau in January. Stay tuned!
Cowboys 28 - Lions 27
Wow! The Lions had the Cowboys on the ropes all game long. Dallas trailed almost the entire game before getting their first lead of the game with 18 seconds left to play. Jason Witten was on fire setting all kinds of receiving records for a tight end, both Cowboys and NFL records. Romo had another 300 yard game and the Cowboys wrapped up the NFC East dvision title, their first since 1998. Dallas is closing in on home field advantage for the playoffs.
Cowboys 37 - Packers 27
In a battle of the best of the NFC, it did not end up being much of a battle after Brett Favre threw two interceptions and was knocked out of the game by the Dallas defense. The Cowboys now have clear control of the NFC and barring a major meltdown or injury, should wrap up home field advantage for the playoffs.
